Where to start – Office on Wheels

I have started drawing and using my new note-taking tool, Notion, to collate research material, define capability and user stories of what suits me for my Office on Wheels.

My initial idea was that it only needed a single bed as it was just me getting away, and I wanted it to be true to the form, of an office on wheels that also could be a camper, and not focus on the bed but the desk setup.

Although when I wrote the user story for the bed capability, it became very clear, and I had an aha moment, and one I look back now and go how did I discount this initially.

It needs to have a double bed as I will use it to go away other than for just working trips and needs to function as a normal camper trailer as well.

Here are some initial thoughts:

To keep it light weight, so I will take more often than not. So it needs to be small.

My first drawings have it at approximately 2200 mm wide and the main cabin is 3600 mm long, with a long draw bar that has a bike rack on it.

I want to build a mock-up of the interior space, as experience tells me when I was an interior designer… many moons ago, I designed some custom pieces of furniture for a restaurant and while each piece fitted everything it was asked to, they were just too small for all the things we had not thought of… and ultimately they were very expensive failures.

I am envisioning I will build a mock-up of the main cabin, but in my studio space within my house. I believe it will fit if I take out one of my tables.
