As someone who has worked in IT for 20+ years and has needed to carry laptops etc, I’ve tried a lot of bags over the years.

Oh, and big shoutout to the early Crumpler bags before they sold to venture capitalists. They are some of my favourites.

Also, I’ve received many bags from IT vendors at roadshows and conferences, but I just love bags and have bought quite a few myself.

Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect day bag for outings with my kids, but none seem to fit the bill.

These days, kids always have a drink bottle in tow, which means I do too…

I can’t find a bag which carries three drink bottles on the outside. As when one leaks – and it’s not if, but when – if they are inside the bag everything gets wet.

They will always want something to eat, and I will be carrying their jumpers by the end of the day too…

I can find drink bags (and no, I don’t feed the kids wine…) and I can find backpacks.

Below are some examples of what I have found.

But nothing that allows us to go to soccer practice or to the shops with everything we need, and that I can throw over my shoulder and go.

It has started me thinking: am I solving something I just want, or is this something other people want?
